Ricky Joseph (22) is a bowler who shares similar traits to former New Zealand medium-pacer Gavin Larson, what he lacks in pace, he makes up for with genuine swing and control. Joseph has consistently been one of the best and most prolific wicket-taker's in Wellington's Premier Competition - the Pearce Cup over the past few seasons, regularly finishing near the top of the wicket-charts. He has proven ability to swing the ball and has taken a handful of 6 and 7-wicket hauls in recent seasons. He has been a key contributor for Eastern Suburbs, regarded as the most successful club side in the Country who are gunning for their tenth successive Pearce Cup triumph this season. Joseph has been an integral part of Easts success and has built a reputation as a big match player courtesy of man-of-the-match performances in the past two grand finals. In 2008/09, Joseph carried Easts to victory taking 5-70 in the first innings and 7-42 in the second for match figures of 12-112. The following season, he starred taking 6-14 in a sublime 13-over spell of swing bowling. . He has spent three seasons developing his game in England, spending two season's (2007-08) in division one of the Northamptonshire League for Weekly and Warkton, followed by a season in the West of England Premier League for Clevedon. He was a stand-out during the three seasons the 2008 season being particularly impressive taking 48 wickets at 12.81, plus weighing in with 679 runs at 42.44 and a blistering 240 in a Rutland Sunday League match. To compliment his playing skills, Joseph is an accredited, enthusiastic and practising coach. He has coached several school teams associated with Easts, undertaken Wellington Junior Holiday Programmes and taken age-group sides during his time in the UK.
