Junior Cricket registrations are open now, you can either register online using the Registration page link or you can come to the clubrooms this Saturday from 9am – 12pm. We will have sample shirts for your child(ren) to try on if they are new players this season or existing players who need a larger size this season.
Both Paul and I will be there and look forward to either seeing you at registration or over the first couple of weeks of the new season.
In the offseason we have begun making plans for the club around a number of areas which parents and players told us caused frustration. Whilst it will take some time for us to fully transform the operating of the club to they was we envisage, here are a couple of the areas we are paying particular attention to:
Fees – last year at $150 the fees were too high. We have reduced this for the 2017/18 season to $135 and our aim is to have this reduced to $100 in the 2018/19 season. The stepped reduction allows the club to retain a surplus ensuring ongoing financial viability but also reducing to a level that is more appropriate we believe. As part of the reduction in fee’s the club will be having two events which will also be fundraisers.
Coaching - Feedback from coaches/ managers was that additional support would have been appreciated. Over the winter several coaches have been put on a range of courses and we are currently working through a buddy system where more senior coaches will help out with the junior to give additional support. The clubs aim is to have all coaches through some sort of training program by 2019.
Events - We promise not another quiz! We have pencilled in Saturday 11th November for a pre Xmas function, details to come however the aim for this is for new and returning families to get together early in the season to help build sense of team and club. The second event will be a larger fundraiser for the club and currently pencilled in for Saturday 17th February. This is looking very exciting and I am sure will cater for everyone. It is important to support the club but also a great opportunity to spend some time with fellow parents without having to give kids throwdowns!
If the weather plays it’s part I am sure we are set for another fantastic season of cricket. If you know of anyone who may be interested then send them the details to register or invite them down on Saturday.
One last thing... years 5 and above have the opportunity to attend camps in the Hawkes Bay over January. These always prove popular so if you think you might be keen talk to your coach or get in touch with myself or Paul. We would like to send two teams from each year group if possible so the more kids interested the better!!
See you all soon.
